Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day)
Course aims
This Emergency First Aid at work one-day course is designed to provide participants with the skills and knowledge necessary to provide basic first aid in a range of workplace situations and is ideal for businesses with low risk working environments that have identified the need for a nominated first aider.
What is covered?
- The role and responsibilities of a first aider
- The importance of effective communication in first aid situations
- The assessment of the situation and the casualty
- The management of an unresponsive casualty, including CPR
- The management of bleeding and shock
- The recognition and treatment of minor injuries, such as cuts, grazes, and bruises
- The management of common workplace injuries, such as burns and scalds, eye injuries, and fractures
- The principles of good hygiene in first aid situations
The course is delivered through a combination of demonstrations, and practical hands-on exercises. Participants will have the opportunity to practice skills such as CPR and the use of a defibrillator, as well as learn how to recognize and treat a range of common workplace injuries. At the end of the course, participants should feel confident in their ability to provide basic first aid in a variety of workplace emergencies.
Training Certificate
A certificate will be issued to the delegates. The certificate is valid for 3 years.
When and where?
Courses can be arranged on request for large groups, or delegates can join a prearranged course if there are fewer numbers, get in touch to find out what courses are running. We ask all delegates to arrive at 8:00am on the course date so that the training can start on time.
Most of our training is delivered at our City Depot in Canning Town, a few minutes walk from Star Lane DLR station. The full address and contact information are available here. However training is also available at our other depots based in Croydon and Wembley, or we can delivery training at your place of work, please contact us for further details.
On-site training course requirements
We can offer this course at your place of work if it is in the London area. For this option the venue must be large enough to accommodate all of the delegates with the maximum being 12 people, with enough floor space to be able to perform practical exercises such as resuscitation and placing other delegates in to the recover position. The accommodation must also be warm, dry and clean.
Be aware that if these requirements are not met, we may be unable to offer the training course and you will be liable for the full cost.

Up to 12 people on each course.
What do I need to bring?
Each delegate will need to wear appropriate clothing for role play, Delegates are advised to wear trousers for when they participate in practical exercises.
How is it assessed?
Progress is assessed as the course is delivered and course notes for future reference will be provided.
